Khalifa Port has reached the top five of the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence's Container Port Performance Index (CPPI).
The Container Port Performance Index is calculated utilizing the total number of port hours per vessel visit. In other words, the time passes between when a ship arrives at a port and when it departs the berth after completing its cargo exchange.
The Khalifa Port ranking is based on the amount of time ships needed in port to fulfill operations in 2021, a year that witnessed extraordinary global port congestion and instability in the world's supply chains as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.
More than four-fifths of worldwide cargo freight forwarding is transported via ocean, with container shipping alone accounting for more than 60% of trade value.
This outstanding rank of Khalifa Port reflects the high-quality performance clients get at the port.
It is worth noting that amid the pressure global supply chains were under, the port was able to establish further improvements in the port capacity.
The port was operating around the clock to maintain the continuity of supply chains, ensuring the delivery of vital goods and supplies.
On the landside, significant productivity gains have been accomplished, with truck turnaround times presently standing at 12 minutes, making Khalifa Port Container Terminal the most efficient in the area.
The Khalifa Port has shortened turnaround times with ongoing investments in the digitalization of the provided services, including cutting-edge infrastructure combining an auto Terminal Operation System, stacking cranes, and drones.
Also, the Abu Dhabi container terminal at Khalifa Port introduced the first auto port truck system in the MENA region by installing electric vehicles within the container terminal to assist the ships’ loading and unloading procedures.
We consider that the Khalifa Port Container Terminal is built with maximum productivity in mind. That improves ship turnaround time and benefits the supply chain and domestic businesses by transporting goods through the port more rapidly.
